Dense Phase Powder Conveying
Dense phase powder conveying systems are categorised into three (3) groups: - Fluidised conveying - Fluidised conveying with internal by-pass - Slug conveying with external by-pass (secondary air supply)
Fluidised conveying with or without inner by-pass is suitable for fine powders with medium to high fluidising properties. The following characteristics are distinct for fluidised conveying: - Continuous to surging homogeneous phase - Low to medium terminal velocity (8~20 m/s) - High solid to air ratio - Low to high pressure drop
Slug conveying with external by-pass line is required if a powder is to be conveyed slowly and gently, but its properties do not allow fluidised conveying.
Slug conveying with external by-pass lines also provide wear protection when conveying very abrasive bulk solids.
